The Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Program for International Teachers (Fulbright DAI)
The Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Program for International Teachers (DAI) is an opportunity for public secondary school teachers to benefit from a semester- long professional development program at an American host university. Moroccan DAI grantees take courses, team-teach, lead classes, and share their expertise with U.S. teachers and students in elementary and secondary local schools, and engage in other teaching-related activities. Participating teachers are coming from different countries and they are placed in groups to live, study, and work together at an American university. The DAI provides a full American campus and community experience in which participants see American life at many levels. Academic coursework focuses on instructional technology and leadership. DAI grantees are guided by American professors of education as they work together on individual or group projects outlined in the application.
The DAI program also provides an opportunity for American teachers to come to Morocco for three to six months. Like the DAI Moroccan grantees, the American teachers may audit two university classes, observe classes in local schools, and share their expertise with Moroccan teachers and students. U.S. teachers also complete a project.
- Moroccan citizens currently residing in Morocco
- Have a bachelor (licence) degree or higher
- Have at least four years of teaching experience at the time of application
- Strong English language skills, both written and spoken
- J-1 visa support and J-2 visa support for dependents
- A pre-departure orientation
- A Welcome Workshop in Washington, D.C.
- Travel (round-trip, economy class airfare to and from the United States and travel within the United States from host university)
- A one-time $250 travel allowance for domestic and international travel to offset luggage fees and incidentals in transit
- Domestic travel reimbursement for round-trip travel expenses from your home to the first point of departure on your IREX- purchased itinerary
- Housing (generally shared with other program participants)
- Academic program fees paid directly to the host university
- Limited accident and sickness health benefit plan
- A $40 daily allowance for meals and incidentals during the university academic program
- A $1,000 technology allowance for educators from eligible countries
- A $1500 professional development allowance for the purchase of educational materials, to attend conferences, or other professional opportunities
- The opportunity for alumni in good standing to participate in alumni activities and to compete for alumni grants.

- June/July 2022: Visa application and Pre-Departure Orientation
- August 2022: Departure to the U.S.

Prospective Fulbright participants should be aware that public health conditions, availability of consular services and travel, as well as U.S. institutional operating status and policies may affect their ability to travel to the U.S. and participate in academic programs.
