Fulbright U.S. Student Research Program
Each year, 8-12 young Americans come to Morocco to undertake a research project of their own design on a Moroccan subject of interest. Subjects can include but are not limited to society, culture, religion, education, art, politics, economics, technology, science, human rights, law, ecological environmental issues, etc.
Student researchers may apply for the Critical Language Enhancement Award (CLEA) which allows grantees to study Arabic, MSA, or Moroccan dialect for up to six months prior to the start of their Fulbright research.
Grant period: 9 months
Students accepted for CLEA may end up spending up to 15 months in Morocco (6 months of CLEA Program + 9 months of Fulbright Program)
- U.S. citizenship
- At least a B.A. degree or equivalent before the start of the grant
- Sufficient proficiency in the written and spoken language of the host country, at least an intermediate level
- Round-trip economy class transportation
- Funds for housing and meals
- Accident & Sickness Health Benefits
- Language study programs
- 24/7 support line for urgent and non-urgent situations
- Quality and feasibility of the research proposal
- Academic record
- Language preparation
- Personal qualifications including flexibility, professionalism and adaptability
- Ability to build and promote long-term connections with Morocco
